Who We Are
Gathering Grace is a Christ-centered non-profit committed to the well-being and future of orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children, bringing them hope and the support they deserve.
Our mission is to provide holistic and sustainable support that addresses each child’s spiritual, medical, nutritional, educational, and essential living needs, particularly in Africa.
Nutrition & Health
In East Africa, about one-third of children under five are chronically undernourished, and nearly nine in ten lack regular access to nutrient-rich foods like eggs and dairy. Undernutrition is a factor in up to 45% of child deaths, and limited diets contribute to stunting, anemia, and developmental delays.
The Challenge
Orphans & Vulnerable Children
Millions of children in East Africa have lost one or both parents, with a significant portion due to HIV/AIDS and other health crises. Many face heightened vulnerability from conflict, disease, and displacement.
Education & Development
Malnutrition and poor health in early childhood directly affect learning and cognitive development, leaving many children struggling to reach their full potential. In underserved communities, school enrollment remains far below universal access.
Child Labor & Exploitation
In East Africa, orphaned and vulnerable children face an alarming risk of exploitation, with many forced into dangerous work in fields, homes, and city streets just to survive. Lacking the protection of family, they are far more likely to endure abuse, trafficking, and the loss of their childhood.
What We Do
Spiritual Development
We bring the love of Christ into every moment. From partnering with local pastors to sharing a simple meal on a dirt floor, we seek to replace hopelessness with the living hope of Jesus. His presence is the foundation of everything we do.
Nutrition
A nourished child is a hopeful child. Through daily meals and developing and supporting nutrition programs, we ensure orphans and vulnerable children grow strong and healthy, ready to step into the futures God has prepared for them.
Education
Education is a pathway out of poverty. We provide school fees, supplies, and mentorship so children can dream beyond their circumstances and discover their God-given potential.
Foster and Adoption Programs
We support programs that match children with vetted Christian families from local churches who open their homes and hearts. These programs provide what every child longs for, a safe family, a mother’s love, and a place to call home for life.

Our Story
Our family’s journey is forever tied to Africa. Three of our five children were adopted from Ethiopia, and through that process our hearts became deeply connected to the land, the culture, and the people who welcomed us in such profound ways.
The unifying motto for our adoption journey was Hearts Wide Open. It reflected our desire to embrace whatever God placed before us, to love without reservation, and to open our lives fully to the children and people He brought into our path.
We have seen both the beauty and the hardship of life in this region. We have met children who have no family, walked in villages where resources are scarce, and witnessed resilience that humbles and inspires us. God has placed on our hearts a clear calling to care for the orphan and the vulnerable in one of the most destitute places in the world.
Through Gathering Grace, we are now able to extend that calling into the regions we serve. It is a place where we desire Jesus to be present and His grace to be magnified. Our work is shaped by love, compassion, and a commitment to walk alongside the people and communities of Africa with open hands and open hearts.
For us, this is not charity. It is family. The people of Africa have shaped who we are. Our lives and theirs are forever intertwined, and our work is simply an expression of love for the place our family comes from.

Because of the generosity of a dedicated group of donors who cover all of our operational and administrative expenses, none of your contribution is used for overhead.
